Matt flew the Inverted Downunder Giles 202 in his first Nationals, and first Advanced competition, at the Australian Aerobatic Club Nationals at Parkes, NSW over Easter 2006. Matt achieved his goal of becoming the Australian Advanced Aerobatic Champion. He won overall, with a first place in two out of the three of the scored rounds.
